Do you take insurance? Yes – Initial weight loss appointments can be covered by insurance when referred by any one of your doctors, however most education, labs, and some medications are covered. We are in network for Medicare, Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina, United Health. All are welcomed with or without insurance
How much does it cost? The initial consultation (approx. 30 minutes) is free. Most appointments are typically 1 hour long with Dr. Toomer, where others may be shorter depending on your needs (refills, follow-up, etc.). The initial cost is $300 broken up into 2 $150 payments. Then $75 a month for unlimited access to Dr. Toomer via appointments, phone, email, and/or text. All referrals receive $25 off. Insurance may cover some of this cost.
Do you take walk-ins? No. Appointments only, but all calls will be answered immediately and returned as quickly as possible. Appointments can be made online here
What do you treat? I primarily treat the psychological reason that keep you from feeling and doing your best (well-being and weight loss). Then identify the psychological, medical, and social obstacles to your success and come up with a plan on how to get around them. Then make sure you understand any medical issues you may have, to gain control over them.
What should I bring with me to my first appointment? Your I.D., insurance card (for reimbursement), any lab work from the past 6 months, all your medications, contact information for all your doctors, and your willingness to make changes.
What should I expect in my first appointment? A smile, a information gathering forms (in an organized binder), and satisfaction. Also, expect to answer a lot of questions. The more questions you answer and the more honestly you answer them, the better individualized your improvement plan will be.
What if I just want a body composition analysis? That’s fine. All services are individualized to your needs and wants.
Can I come see you if I have other doctors? We do not replace your doctors, we enhance what they do by adding education, counseling, and/or weight loss programs.
Is this just for weight loss? No – I don’t do programs, I am your partner with a plan. I am a doctor first, who cares most about your health and well-being, who then uses weight loss as one way to achieve that. I also identify and treat the causes for the initial weight gain (depression, anxiety, insomnia, binge eating, pre-diabetes, etc).
What if I don’t need to lose weight? During a free consultation, you would determine if you need any of the other services (counseling, education, behavioral health treatment, etc)
